Feeling the Heat, Bashir Cancels Turkey Trip

The European Union stood on principle against war crimes in Sudan, and the result is that President Bashir decided not to go to Turkey to attend the summit. This incident demonstrates that principle can trump pragmatism after all. Hopefully this will spur the EU to enhance its support of the ICC indictment going forward, and nudge the Obama administration to do more on behalf of international accountability for what it calls genocide in Darfur.
