Walk for Darfur

Tomorrow, June 7th, Jewish World Watch (JWW) is hosting its annual Walk for Darfur at the Pierce College Farm Center in California’s San Fernando Valley to raise awareness, and support the people of Darfur. JWW, a coalition of synagogues that work together in mobilizing community members to combat genocide and a supporter of Enough’s Darfur Dream Team Sister Schools program, anticipates that more than 3,000 people will walk to demonstrate a commitment to ending the genocide in Darfur. After the walk, JWW will host an awareness fair featuring information booths about how you can help, along with a special exhibition featuring the “solar cookers” that JWW distributed to women living in refugee camps in eastern Chad in order to reduce their dependency on firewood for cooking.

Registration is still open, so visit the Walk for Darfur website to sign up. Even if you are unable to walk, you can make a donation on their website. The money raised by JWW will be given to aid agencies that support Darfuri refugees and the top fundraiser will be given a walk-on role in Showtime’s Weeds!
