What You Can Do for Darfur and Southern Sudan
1. Join the movement
End the genocide in Darfur. Sign up for updates from the Enough Project, Save Darfur Coalition, STAND, and the Genocide Intervention Network.
2. Add your voice
Sign our petition to have your voice counted: Add your voice to the thousands who have already signed postcards asking President Obama to keep his promise of “unstinting resolve” to end the genocide in Darfur by making Darfur a priority from day one of his presidency.
3. Call and write to your elected officials
Call the White House and your elected officials to urge them to act now to end the conflict. Call 1-800-GENOCIDE. For more information about this important and easy-to-use hotline, visit www.1800genocide.com/call-the-president.
4. Research your elected officials' grade on Darfur
Visit www.DarfurScores.org. Contact your representatives to tell them that they can do more and thank them for action they have already taken.
5. Learn about Darfur in your classroom
Request your teachers to use the teaching units developed by Facing History and Ourselves and the Enough Project for the book Not On Our Watch and the movie “Darfur Now.”
6. Join the Darfur Dream Team
Sign up for updates from Enough’s Sister Schools Program. The initiative aims to connect American middle schools, high schools, colleges, and universities with sister schools in Darfuri 12 refugee camps in Chad.
7. Make your school a Sister School
If you are interested in getting your school involved in the Sister Schools Program, ask your teacher to get in touch with Stella Kojo Kenyi, our Sister
Schools Program Coordinator at skenyi@enoughproject.org
8. Introduce your church to the Christian Companion to Not On Our Watch at your church
Here is a bible study resource that your church might be interested in that accompanies Not On Our Watch by John Prendergast and Don Cheadle. The Companion provides biblical reflections on the movement to end genocide in Darfur and beyond.
9. Write to Secretary of State Clinton
Write to Secretary of State Nominee Hillary Clinton asking her to highlight Sudan as a critical priority and to develop plans now so the administration can end the crisis without delay. Clinton was a great advocate for Darfur during her time as a Senator representing New York.
10. Blog for change
Blog about what’s happening in Darfur. Spread the word to family and friends about what they can do to end the conflict. And if you have a blog please help us promote the work of Enough by linking to us.
