The Enough Project is proud to announce our new partnership with the Boston-based NGO, Facing History and Ourselves, in developing a curriculum designed to help U.S. junior high and high school students understand how the genocide in Darfur relates to genocides and crimes against humanity throughout recent history.
Facing History and Ourselves, which has 30 years’ experience in curriculum development , is distributing classroom materials its educational experts have created to accompany the film, Darfur Now, and the book, Not on Our Watch, co-authored by Enough Co-chair John Prendergast and actor/activist Don Cheadle. The teaching unit includes four lessons that provide an introduction to the genocide in Darfur, help students identify how activists have responded to violence in the region, encourage students to think about the complexity of activism, and ask students to connect this materials to their own experiences and ideas about activism, genocide, and conflict resolution.
The Darfur Now and Not On Our Watch Teaching Unit already is being used by thousands of teachers in U.S. schools. Click here to download the teaching units from the Facing History and Ourselves website.
