"The Greatest Silence: Rape in the Congo"
Lisa F. Jackson's Emmy nominated documentary (running time of 76 minutes) presents the heart-wrenching facts of mass rapes of women and girls by soldiers using sexual violence as a tool of war and control to dominate income from the mining of the conflict minerals tin, tantalum, & tungsten. These items are then sold to make American electronics like cell phones and laptops.

A reception sponsored by Our Voice will be held for ticket holders
after the September 24 showing, next door at Blue Spiral 1.
Special guests will include John Prendergast, co-founder of the Enough Project, Washington, D.C. and Asheville Mayor Terry Bellamy, both on Sept 24; and Barb Anderson, Executive Director, Our Voice, Asheville, on all dates. Ms. MacDowell will make introductory and post-screening comments on all dates.
Tickets are $8, cash or checks only, and will be available at the theatre box office starting September 17 from 12:30pm to 8:30pm daily.
Proceeds will benefit Our Voice, Inc., Asheville’s local organization offering assistance to area victims of rape.
