WASHINGTON – This past week, our partner organization Invisible Children launched its “Kony 2012” campaign introducing millions of viewers to the brutal rebel group the Lord’s Resistance Army, or LRA, and its leader, Joseph Kony. The Enough Project is committed to arresting Kony and his top commanders as part of a comprehensive strategy to end the LRA crisis and bring lasting peace to the region.

In response to the recent increase in interest in this important issue, the Enough Project has published two op-eds and participated in several interviews to provide background context on the LRA crisis, identify how the Obama administration can help end the LRA, and set out further steps for activists to take.

Op-eds on 3/9/2012:

How Obama Should Stop Kony” on CNN.com, by Enough Project Executive Director John Bradshaw and Enough Policy Analyst Ashley Benner

Kony 2012: 4 Things You Can Do” on Global Post, by Enough Project Policy Consultant Sasha Lezhnev

Beyond these media products, the Enough Project’s most recent LRA report, “Ensuring Success: Four Steps Beyond U.S. Troops to End the War with the LRA,” digs deeper into the specific recommendations for the U.S. and international community to ensure that operations to end the LRA are successful.

Enough is a project of the Center for American Progress to end genocide and crimes against humanity. Founded in 2007, the Enough Project focuses on crises in Sudan, eastern Congo, and areas of Africa affected by the Lord’s Resistance Army. Enough’s strategy papers and briefings provide sharp field analysis and targeted policy recommendations based on a “3P” crisis response strategy: promoting durable peace, providing civilian protection, and punishing perpetrators of atrocities. Enough works with concerned citizens, advocates, and policy makers to prevent, mitigate, and resolve these crises. For more information, please visit www.enoughproject.org.
